On January 29, 2013, the Wharton Leadership Council announced the integration and merger of the School’s leadership development initiatives into one organization, the Wharton Leadership Program, serving all of Wharton’s student constituencies. Building on the expertise and success of the School’s undergraduate and MBA initiatives, this organizational change will spur continued expansion and innovation in Wharton’s leadership development programs for all students. It will result in increased effectiveness and efficiency while preserving the unique attributes that distinguish the various initiatives.
The organization will be led by Jeff Klein, newly-appointed Executive Director, and Anne Greenhalgh, newly-appointed Deputy Director. Jeff and Anne will work under the direction of the Wharton Leadership Council, and in conjunction with the Wharton Leadership Advisory Board, longstanding individual and corporate partners, the Center for Leadership and Change Management, and the Management Department.
The Wharton Leadership Program reaches this milestone at an exciting time for the School’s leadership development initiatives. Business Week recently rated Wharton’s MBA leadership development initiatives an A+, and a recent Academy of Management study, “Practicing Evidence-Based Education in Leadership Development,” noted that Wharton has “established a strong pedagogical framework and structure, made significant efforts to link research to practice, and added a personalized experiential component to their program with an effort to tie it to a competency model for development” (Klimoski and Amos, 2012).
